American humor has gone dark and dank with bad sex jokes, sharp-edged racial play, and dumb religious innuendos; and paradoxically it is sometimes hamstrung by self-censorship. A well-known axiom is to avoid public discussion of religion, sex, politics, or money. Try telling that to these comedic shock-jokes cruising for an easy awkward laugh.
So, a while ago I switched to British humor. Most evenings I enjoy the panel comedy shows Would I Lie To You, and Eight Out Of Ten Cats, all of which are available free on YouTube. The British enthusiasm for word play is punny funny to me! And while the British humor is often too smutty, sexist, and racist for my sensibilities, it is low-grade.
What's the best day to cook eggs? Friday.
