California Burn
Earlier in life I experienced many different cities in California; I lived in Apache Junction (in the desert, in the shadow of Superstition Mountain), La Mesa, Tempe, and in El Cajon with jungley landscaping around the hot tub. I trained for Peace Corps at Farallones Rural Institute near Santa Rosa. I worked in Oakland, San Diego, etcetera. I explored up and down the California coast and into the Pacific Ocean scuba diving, snorkeling, or just swimming for the joy of it. I had a lot of fun in California. It breaks my heart that California is now on fire. I grieve for the Californians, human, pets, and wild animals, for the hapless plants.
The soot, plastic particulates, and toxic chemical pollutants have swept all the way across the country to where I live in Maine and it stings my eyes. I cry.
