Finding My Place
I've been living in Maine for almost a year now, and not one person has asked me what my profession is, what I do, or even asked my name. The only thing they ask me, and they all ask, is "Where are you from." The When are you going back? hangs unspoken in the air like flatulence. That sad circumstance is despite the fact that I have probably met about 200± people due to my habit of participating in at least one group each day: exercise classes, bible study, book reading groups, meditation sessions, zooming, walks, lunching at the senior center, and church services trying to find my church home and my place in Maine.
