My Paternal Grandmother Throcky's brothers

I never got to know either of my grandmother Throcky's brothers, Walter and Lloyd. Here are the photographs, what on earth happened to those relationships? Or was it just me they could not see?

Nowadays I am of the impression that children do not mind their parents so strictly. Especially Walter, I begged to be allowed to speak to Walter when he was ill in a veteran's hospital. But no.
