Online Obfuscations

This is my email this morning to a new financial institution in which I wished to open a simple saving account.

Re:  please expedite account application No. xxxxx

Dear Ms. Banking Associate at X Credit Union,

I applied online for a bank account with X Credit Union at the beginning of this week, on 10/07/24, and now late in the week, on 10/10/24, I am still patiently waiting for X Credit Union to open this account so that I can transfer my prior bank funds into it.  Ironically, fifty years ago or so this account would have been setup in person, in about half an hour at most, and I would have had the pleasure of meeting you and other X Credit Union staff in person; but I am seventy-five years old so I suppose one must expect some change, hopefully for the best.

Please let me know when you have opened this account, as I have other financial arrangements pending on this account being in place.  Thank you.

BTW, when I stop into X Credit Union in person, hopefully later this afternoon if you have finished setting up my new account by then, I will provide you with my driver's license and you can copy it any way that you wish.  I am sorry that my scan of it did not work for you, as you know the Department of Motor Vehicles builds visual obfuscation into all drivers' licenses.

Sincerely,

Ms. Annmarie Throckmorton

Note:  using honorifics when you first meet people shows courtesy and respect.  (By which I was objecting to being addressed as "Hi Annmarie" in the very first correspondence that I received from this credit union.)
