Skyscrapers Are Ugly And Scary. The ancients built in stone which is beautiful, and essentially lasts forever. It is easy to relax in a stone setting. In recent centuries we build high-rise buildings in metal, glass, and cheap concrete, a combination which scrapes the sky but barely lasts a lifetime. Skyscrapers are ugly, they block out the sun and tower ominously high over our head. We instinctively know that some day they will fall. The upper floors of skyscrapers shake and sway in a scary way. Build in stone for a beautiful, long-lasting legacy.
