Thanksgiving 2022
In my minimalist way, I am greatly thankful for the great bounty in my life on this Thanksgiving in 2022, to be here in Maine with the basics that I need. The Augusta Food Bank provided me with a small, frozen piece of turkey (quality unknown as of this moment) and I will make a delicious little meal with sweet potatoes, boxed stuffing, canned cranberry sauce...boxed gingerbread cake and whipped cream in a can, still a luxury!
A little sad that there is no one for me to cook for, I would have made home-made.
... and then friends at two different churches invited me to their Thanksgiving Dinner. The first event ended in disaster when first a child fell hard and then a middle aged woman fell with a scream in the middle of festivities. The first was hauled off by her parents and the latter was hauled out by EMTs. I did not go to the second event due to my fear(s). A slip and fall at my age could be the end of it. But I did go for Thanksgiving to the home of new friends, with gratitude and happiness. Thank you God. Amen.
